Producing an Award Winning Range of Commercial Vehicles for the Asia-Pacific Region

What if you could take an award winning MPV and turn it into many specialised vehicles for various commercial uses before selling it? That is exactly the kind of question that propelled Weststar Maxus Sdn Bhd into its current stronghold in the niche commercial vehicle sector.

After enjoying strong success in the years preceding, a new era for Weststar Maxus began in the year 2010. Working together with new manufacturers, Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC), Weststar Maxus obtained sole distribution rights for the Asia-Pacific region, including Japan.

This major coup in distribution rights was further bolstered in 2011 with the acclaimed launch of the new improved Maxus V80 at the Auto Shanghai Motorshow. In late 2011, local assembly of the van commenced.

With an in-demand vehicle to sell and a new manufacturing plant set up, Weststar Maxus will be further expanding its regional presence, with Maxus V80 launches planned in Indonesia and Thailand.
